ABOUT YOUR VIP GAUDI TOUR BARCELONA
Your VIP Gaudí Tour Barcelona begins at
Casa Batlló. Upon meeting your expert guide, you will view the striking façade of Casa Batlló, a testament to Gaudí’s inspired perspective on nature and Catalan mythology entwined to create a wondrous architecture. The tour will continue to Casa Milá, known as “La Pedrera” or “open quarry”, another beautiful project designed by Gaudí at the height of his career. Your top-rated guide will discuss Gaudí’s distinctive artistic perspective with you and your group so you get a full contextual picture of the life and times of this great artist. Learn how Gaudi was an avid “recycler”, frequently using broken industrial tiles in his work. Take a closer look at Casa Milá and notice the green shades, those are made with none other than recycled cava bottles!
After learning about these two quintessential Gaudí projects, you will board a luxury private van to make your way to the newly restored and only recently opened
Casa Vicens. Considered one of the first examples of Catalan modern architecture, this privately commissioned home for a wealthy industrial family would soon come to symbolize the beauty of Barcelona’s most important contemporary movement.
The quick journey will be made aboard our air-conditioned vans so you can rest your feet while avoiding crowded public transportation.
This VIP Gaudí Barcelona tour will give you exclusive insight into the architect’s life, and creative inspirations. Find out how Gaudí was obsessed with the natural world, an interest that complemented his pious devotion to the Catholic faith later in his life. Your local tour guide will highlight the colors, textures, and symbols of nature that
are found repeatedly in his work. Learn about the hidden aspects of Gaudí’s work, such as the animal anatomy found in the façade of Casa Batlló, and the architect’s perfectionist design habits. Your visit to Casa Vicens offers a fresh look into a work from an early time in Gaudí’s career, designed only five years after he graduated from architecture school. The building shows hints of the influential style that the architect would come to develop throughout his life.
SAGRADA FAMILIA AND PARK GUELL
Your tour will continue to Gaudí’s most popular work and Barcelona’s number one attraction, the Sagrada Familia. Learn about Gaudi’s obsessive passion for sacred geometry which is present in all of his work, and most particularly in this master work. You can witness this genius craftsmanship on the facade of the building where you can read the lines “1, 14, 14, 4″ or “11, 7, 6, 9″ which when added, from any direction, equate to the number 33. Perhaps symbolic of the age when Jesus Christ was crucified?
Once you have got acquainted with the mind behind the man, you will want to see the inside of this gorgeous building. Get skip-the-line access to the church, passing the crowds and not wasting any time queuing. To maintain the sanctity of the worship space, and according to the
Sagrada Familia Administration Policy, you will be provided with audio guide headsets, allowing you to contemplate and explore the magnificent space on your own. Keep in mind all the wonderful tidbits of knowledge to you by your tour guide and walk through the marvelous “man-made forest”
After taking in the impressive basilica, you will then meet your guide again and ride in the private van to Park Güell, the tour’s final stop. Your LivSpain tour guide will take you directly to the entrance with skip-the-line access, cutting out the long and tedious uphill walk. Learn how Park Güell was originally intended to be a residential community, but fell short of this vision due to commercial failure. Admire the sculptural mosaic structures, curvi-linear colorful terraces, and thoughtful indoor-outdoor approach to the site’s landscape. The elevation of the park makes this an ideal place to catch one of Barcelona’s vibrant sunsets, which is how your small group tour will conclude. Your private van will then drive your group back to the city’s center.

ABOUT ANTONI GAUDIAntoni Gaudí was born in 1852 to a family of craftsmen. After studying at the Barcelona Higher School of Architecture, Gaudí began his practice and soon acquired high-profile projects. The architect quickly developed a distinct style, most closely aligned with the “Modernisme” movement. Catalan Modernism spanned across art, literature, and design, and had a distinct identity separate from the larger Modernist movement in other parts of Europe. Modernism looked to past styles and aesthetics to build a foundation for contemporary works, primarily as a reaction against the Industrial Revolution’s influence on culture. Gaudí led this movement by embracing curved lines and integrating nature and organic forms into his work. This tour will highlight key Modernist projects with the added value of insights from your local expert tour guide.
